Student Mobility: Sunandini Bansal’s Inspiring Journey to 3 IITs

Sunandini Bansal joined JKLU’s B.Tech programme in 2022. But she now has more friends at different IITs in the country than at JKLU. Why? In less than three years since joining JKLU, she has participated in study and internship programs at three different IITs.

For her current semester, she is at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). "It's only been a few days here at IIT Kanpur, but the students have welcomed me with broad smiles and warm hearts," she says.

Within these few days, Sunandini has earned a senior executive position at Techkriti, IIT Kanpur's annual technical and entrepreneurship festival. "The culture here is truly commendable and inspiring," she adds.

Before her time at IIT Kanpur, she completed two semesters at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and undertook two internships at IIT Ropar. "Spanning two semesters at IIT Gandhinagar and two internships along with volunteering experience at the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, this adventure has been nothing short of extraordinary," Sunandini says.

At IIT Gandhinagar, Sunandini studied several pivotal courses including Foundations of AI, Machine Learning, Discrete Mathematics, Theory of Computing, and Computer & Network Security. What added a new dimension to her learnings at IIT Gandhinagar were the opportunities to learn French and Japanese in addition to courses in creativity, design, and psychology.

During her internships at IIT Ropar, she delved into EduTech innovations, explored Digital Agriculture, and developed a deep understanding of creating language learning apps. “This journey has been so much more than academics—it's been a voyage of self-discovery, resilience, and the courage to embrace the unknown,” she says.

Sunandini’s journey to the IITs has been made possible by JKLU’s flagship student exchange programme that allows its students to spend up to four semesters at premier engineering institutions worldwide.
